I want to tell you about an instant way to appear as if you've lost 5 lb. instantly (sounds like a late night infomercial doesn't it?)? Stand up straight! Good posture is so important, yet, so difficult for some people to do consistently. I have an extremely hard time with this issue my whole life. I'm double jointed, so I stood with my knees bowed back wards, throwing my hips forward, slumped my shoulders forward, and looked like a giant question mark, until I was in my early 30's. My daughter does the exact same thing. I believe it contributed to my chronic back pain, and generally not looking very flattering for a lot of my life.
It's a very hard habit to break. Pilaties, helped tremendously with body awareness. A lot of people get the same effect from yoga. There is another method of study that I've heard about but haven't had an opportunity to try called The Alexander Method. It studies spine alignment and posture. One day I'd love to explore that.
Today, be mindful of pulling your shoulders and lats back and down a touch, not throwing your hips forward, and peak at your reflection... the new slimmer and more fit you!
